Natural Wonders of Finger Lakes Wine Country: Hector Falls

The Finger Lakes are home to a variety of waterfalls, none of which are to be overlooked.  Among the lesser known, stand Hector Falls.  Located North of Watkins Glen in Hector, NY this roadside fall is unique and unlike any other.

Standing at 165 feet, Hector Falls are a tiered cascading fall cut into three sections.  Broader, larger, and more open than the surrounding Finger Lakes falls, Hector Falls cascade over shale and limestone rock on its way down toward Seneca Lake.   Although only the top third can be seen from the road, the falls are still a sight to behold. If you are looking to see the falls in its entirety, try renting a kayak or boat and see the view from Seneca Lake.

Accessible all year round, the falls are best to visit after heavy rains in the Spring and Fall.
