Fall into Finger Lakes Wine Country

While it is true that every season is a great time to visit the Finger Lakes, fall does seem to be a popular time to do so. With the changing leaves, excitement of harvest, and all of the delicious fall bounty, it’s easy to see why everyone loves this time of year. And since it is a busy time of year around here, there is also so much to do!

Festivals and Events

The Fall Festivals showcase the fruits of harvest and are the last chance to celebrate warmer weather before winter moves in.

U.S. Vintage Grand Prix | Sept. 5-7, 2014

This annual event celebrates something extremely special about the small town at the southern end of Seneca Lake. Watkins Glen was the home of a 6.6 mile road course that went through its downtown streets. This annual tribute was designed to recreate the atmosphere of the street races that took place from 1948-1955. Every year this event draws thousands of people to celebrate in the excitement of vintage car racing.

The U.S. Vintage Grand Prix has something for everyone. The downtown streets of Watkins Glen are lined with live music, wine tastings, food, and so much more! There are also over 600 class sports cars to admire as you wander throughout the town.

For tickets and more information visit www.grandprixfestival.com.

The famous Watkins Glen International Speedway also celebrates the Vintage Grand Prix in the form of Glenora Wine Cellars U.S. Vintage Grand Prix the same weekend. For more information about this special race visit www.theglen.com

Celebrate fall in the historic Gaffer District in downtown Corning, NY! There is live music, food, beer & wine tastings, and fun for the whole family. It is also just a short walk (or shuttle ride) away from The Corning Museum of Glass, where the largest glass pumpkins will be on display!

For the schedule of music and activities visit www.gafferdistrict.com and look for the Harvest Music Festival under the ‘Events’ section.

Finger Lakes Beer Festival | October 25, 2014

Fall is definitely the season of beer. What better way to celebrate than 30 craft beers from 15 Finger Lakes craft breweries at the same time, all in one location? Watkins Glen International is happy to provide the brews, along with live music and food. Tickets are $35 in advance and $40 at the actual event. Each ticket comes with a complimentary beer glass.

For more information, visit the Events section of www.theglen.com.

Wine Trail & Winery Events

This weekend long wine trail event allows you experience all the sights, smells, and tastes that the season has to offer. Each winery gives you a sample of a delicious dish that highlights the season’s harvest along with some of the best wines Keuka Lake has to offer. This is also a great opportunity to try the newly released wines!

Join Glenora Wine Cellars for the ultimate lobster bake! Each ticket holder receives a whole Maine Lobster, steamed clams, salt potatoes, freshly picked sweet corn, Cole slaw, rolls, homemade brownies, and iced tea. There is also an a la carte menu where all these items can be purchased individually. And of course, Glenora wine will be available for purchase all day! On Saturday, Steve Southworth & the Rockability Rays will provide live music for your entertainment, and on Sunday it’s Bob’s Brother’s Band. Each band plays from 1:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m.

So bring your blankets and long chairs, and don’t miss out on this opportunity to celebrate the season in style.
