Soar with the birds in 2011

Are you interested in soaring with the birds by experiencing soaring first-hand? Take a sailplane ride on Harris Hill in Finger Lakes Wine Country.  The National Soaring Museum sells sailplane ride gift certificates on behalf of Harris Hill Soaring Corporation and can be ordered via phone at (607) 734-3128, or in person in our Windrider Gift Shop.  This affordable experience is a once in a lifetime opportunity to soar with the birds.

Pricing:

Schweizer 2-33 sailplane: $75.00
Schleicher ASK-21 high-performance sailplane: $85.00

The high-performance sailplane provides a smoother ride with a more relaxed seating position and is an excellent choice for people who are taking a ride as a one-time experience. If you are thinking about learning to fly gliders, you may want to ride in the Schweizer 2-33; this is the type used for training.

Harris Hill Soaring Corporation offers rides 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. on weekends from April through October; from late June through August they are open 7 days a week. The certificates do not expire and rides are given on a first-come, first-serve basis. Please call ahead on the day you wish to fly; the sport of soaring is very weather-dependent. The ride lasts approximately 15-20 minutes, not including prep time. Be sure to bring your camera to capture the experience!
