Natural Wonders of Finger Lakes Wine Country: Finger Lakes National Forest

The Finger Lakes National Forest is a Mecca of green nestled within 16,212 acres of Finger Lakes Wine Country.  Tucked away between Seneca and Cayuga Lake, the forest features various unique experiences.  From trails to historical sites, there is a little bit of something for everyone.

Serving as New York States only National Forest, the Finger Lakes National Forest has over 30 miles of trails traversing gorges, ravines, pastures and woodlands.  Open all year long, the forest provides multiple activities for each season.

First up is autumn, the most popular season.  The forest is at its most vibrant and offers an array of activities including hunting, bicycling and hiking.  Second most popular is summer, famous for camping, hiking, horseback riding, bicycling and fishing.  But don’t forget about the slower months!  Even in winter you can find shoe shoeing enthusiasts and snowmobilers alike.

As a four season recreational experience, the Finger Lakes National Forest is a must see for those looking for something to do within the Finger Lakes region.
