Wine Country Insider June 20 - 27, 2011

While we may have been celebrating summer since Memorial Day Weekend, summer's official arrival is tomorrow and Finger Lakes Wine Country has lots going on in the coming weeks for you to kick off the sunshine season.

This week kicks off with one of my favorite summertime events. Music, Margaritas, and Sunsets on the Terrace will take place Wednesday evening at the Rockwell Museum of Western Art. Enjoy live music atop the terrace overlooking downtown Corning. Certainly a perfect way to break up the week. 

This weekend is the second weekend of the Keuka Lake Wine Trail event Barbecue at the Wineries. Savor barbecued foods paired with delicious wines from the eight wineries along the Keuka Lake Wine Trail.  Learn more about this event by listening to the 15-minute podcast or visit KeukaWineTrail.com for tickets.

On display now at the Glenn H. Curtiss Museum in Hammondsport is Fortune and Glory: Celebrating Indiana Jones and 30 Years of Adventure an exhibit that features more than 40 original props and costumes used in the four Indiana Jones movies. The exhibit will open on Friday, June 17 and run through Monday, September 5.

Knapp Winery on Cayuga Lake is offering horseback riding through the vineyards one weekend a month throughout the summer and fall (will be taking place June 25 & 26).  Enjoy a leisurely ride through the beautiful vineyards on this 30 minute guided tour. It is only $20 per person and reservations are required. 

This weekend Cobblestone Winery is hosting their annual Cherry Festival.  Taking place both Saturday and Sunday you can enjoy sweet and sour cherry picking, a barbecue and fish fry, local ice cream and cheeses, along with games, live music, and much more!

Sunday Damiani Wine Cellars on Seneca Lake will host a Sauvignon Blanc tasting.  Join them for a guided education tasting along with light fare. Tickets are just $25.
