Enjoy the Harvest Festival at Hunt Country Vineyards

We are in the midst of autumn and with the hillsides bursting with color and the grapes heavy on the vine, harvest is definitely in full swing.  Fall is a spectacular time in the region considering the beauty, the usually perfect weather, and of course, all the fun festivals.  Hunt Country Vineyards on the north-end of Keuka Lake is celebrating their 21st annual Harvest Festival this weekend, October 2nd and 3rd. If you ask me, it's the perfect way to take in all the fall fun you've been craving in Finger Lakes Wine Country.

The Harvest Festival will certainly have something for everyone. Enjoy delicious food and cooking demos from Chef Paul Mach. There is special cellar tastings with winemaker, Jonathan Hunt. The team at Hunt Country will be releasing five new wines this weekend, too. Be among the first to sample the 2008 Cabernet Franc, 2009 Cayuga White, 2009 Semi-Dry Riesling, 2009 Vignoles, and a new blend of their ever-popular Foxy Lady Blush.

Festival-goers are also welcome to enter the Grape Stomping Contest and enjoy a horse-drawn wagon ride through the vineyards. Also learn about Hunt Country Vineyard's sustainability efforts with a tour of the vertical axis wind turbine. Live music rounds out the festival. In fact, Joyce and Art's daughter, Suzanne Hunt who is president and founder of Hunt Green LLC in Washington DC, will be playing with her band, StickMob, on Saturday.

The best part? This event is free to attend! Ticket for food and activities vary in price so you can do just as much or as little as you want. Learn more about Hunt Country Vineyards and the Harvest Festival by listening to the15-minute podcast below.
